FAQ

Questions, Answered Straight.

Including the several where the answer is “no, and here is who you actually need for that”.

Rules change. Confirm anything regulatory with your regulator, your firm or the testing organization rather than with a marketing page — including this one.

What we do not do

Sponsorship and Education Requirements

Do you sponsor me for a FINRA® exam?
No. Most top-off exams — the Series 7, 6, 24, 79 and the rest — require a member firm to file for you. That is an employment relationship and it cannot be bought from a study product. We prepare you for the exam and nothing else.
Which exams can I take without a sponsor?
The SIE®, which was decoupled from employment in 2018 and is the reason students now sit it before they interview. The NASAA Series 65 also does not require sponsorship, which is why career changers take it. Confirm your own situation with the testing organization.
Does this satisfy my state’s insurance pre-licensing hours?
No. Many states require a set number of hours from a provider they have approved before you may sit the exam. AccelaStudy AI is not an approved provider in any state, nothing here counts toward those hours, and no completion certificate comes out of it. You buy those hours from an approved provider; this is the preparation that comes after.
Does this satisfy the NMLS 20-hour requirement?
No. The SAFE Act requires 20 hours of NMLS-approved pre-licensing education and we are not an approved provider. You need both things and they do different jobs: the approved course makes you eligible, preparation makes you ready.
Is this a CFP Board Registered Program?
No. The CFP® certification has an education requirement that is met through CFP Board Registered Programs, and we are not one. We are exam preparation, and we are not affiliated with CFP Board.
Do you issue continuing-education credit?
No. We are not a CE provider for any regulator, state department or credentialing body, and nothing here is CE credit. If you already hold a license and need CE, this is not the product for that.
Do you register, license or appoint anyone?
No. Registration goes through your firm and FINRA; insurance licensing goes through your state department of insurance and appointment through a carrier; mortgage licensing goes through the NMLS and your state regulator. We are not affiliated with any of them.

Shape, scoring and retakes

The Exams

What score do I need?
It differs by exam, which surprises people. The SIE and Series 6 want 70; the Series 7 wants 72; the Series 79 and the Series 66 want 73; the Series 65 wants 72, which is 94 of its 130 questions; the NMLS test wants 75%. Most insurance exams pass at 70, with a handful of states differing. Knowing your own number changes how you pace.
How long do I have to wait after a failed attempt?
For FINRA and NASAA exams the standard wait is 30 days after each of the first two failures and longer after that. The NMLS and the state insurance systems set their own. Check the current rule where you are testing — it is one of the things that moves.
How long does an SIE pass stay good?
Four years. That is what makes it worth taking early: pass it as a student and it is still valid through graduation and a job search.
Which states are covered for insurance?
The ones named on the insurance page, and only those. We do not publish a count and we will not say “all 50” until it is true — each state’s law layer ships when it passes its own consistency check.
Are these real exam questions?
No. Every item is written from the published content outlines, the statutes and rules, and the underlying material. We do not collect or reproduce recalled questions from candidates who sat the exam, which is both the legal posture and the reason our practice exams can be composed fresh rather than drawn from a fixed pool.
Do practice exams match the real weights?
Yes. FINRA, NASAA, the NMLS, CFA Institute and CFP Board all publish section or topic weights, and full-length simulations are built to them — so an area that is a fifth of the real exam is a fifth of the practice one, rather than whatever proportion a bank happened to accumulate.
Are the exam fees included?
No. You pay the testing organization directly. FINRA’s fees rose on January 1, 2026 — the SIE to $100 and the Series 7 to $395 — and insurance and NMLS fees are set by your state and the system. Confirm yours when you schedule.

What you get

The Product

What happens to my AccelaStudy AI Business subscription?
If you were enrolled in the CFA® Program, CAIA®, FRM® or CFP certification courses through Business before they moved here, you keep access. The shelf moves to this product at launch for new subscribers and does not reach into a subscription you already hold. Business keeps its project-management, agile, Six Sigma, HR, supply-chain and marketing certifications as it always has.
Is one subscription really every exam?
Yes — securities, insurance, mortgage and the credential shelf, with no per-exam purchase and no premium tier. That is the whole argument: the category’s normal shape is one product per exam, and a licensing career is not one exam.
How do the calculations get checked?
Every worked solution is recomputed from the problem’s own values before it is shown, rather than typed alongside the question by a person. The key cannot drift from the question because it is derived from it. More on that →
How do I know the regulatory numbers are current?
Every figure carries the date it took effect and the whole table is refreshed each January as a scheduled job. A figure that has not been re-verified for the current year does not ship. It is a mechanism rather than a promise, which is the only kind of answer worth giving here.
Can I use it on a phone?
Mostly. Questions, flashcards and rule lookup work well on a phone, which is where a lot of study time actually happens. Long calculation work and document reading — a Closing Disclosure, a declarations page — are better on a laptop or tablet, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
Is it accessible?
The whole platform is built to WCAG 2.1 AA: full keyboard navigation, screen-reader support, a high-contrast theme beyond dark mode, reduced-motion support, and text alternatives for charts and documents. The full accessibility statement →
Does it track me?
No tracking cookies, no third-party analytics, no tracking pixels, and fonts served from our own servers rather than a third-party network. Your study data is yours.

Timing and billing

Getting Started

When should I start?
For a licensing exam, three to eight weeks out depending on which one — an insurance line is nearer three, a Series 7 nearer eight. For a credential level, months rather than weeks; a CFA Program level is normally a six-month commitment and the annual tier exists for exactly that shape.
I have not been hired yet. Is there anything I can do?
Yes, and it is the best thing you can do: the SIE needs no sponsor, a pass is good for four years, and walking into an interview already holding it is a genuine advantage. Financial Markets Fundamentals is free and is the on-ramp to it.
I am a career changer with no finance background.
That is a very large share of this market — the insurance producer pipeline alone runs to hundreds of thousands of first-time attempts a year, and about 59% of them passed in 2024 on the states’ own reported figures. Starting with the free course before you commit money is a reasonable way to find out whether the material suits you.
When does it launch?
Monday, March 29, 2027. Join the waitlist and you will hear the day subscriptions open — and which insurance states opened with it, by name. Nothing is charged before then.
Can I cancel?
Any time, in one click. Paid access runs to the end of the period you already paid for and nothing renews after that.
Does subscribing here include other AccelaStudy AI products?
No. Each product in the family is an independent subscription — no bundles, no stacking, no surprises. See the family →

One standing caveat, worth repeating: nothing on this site is regulatory, legal, tax or investment advice. Exam shapes and weights come from the testing organizations’ published outlines; everything about eligibility, sponsorship, education requirements, licensing, appointment and fees belongs to your firm, your regulator and the testing organization. AccelaStudy AI is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or approved by any of them.
